Terms of Service

Last updated 16 August 2026. These terms cover your use of the GrailFox app and this website.

1. The agreement

These terms are a licence agreement for the GrailFox app, and they cover this website too. They are between you and Maksim Larkin, sole trader, Berlin, Germany — full details on the Impressum — not with Apple. The app is distributed through Apple's App Store, and everything you buy in it you buy from Apple under Apple's own terms; these terms govern your use of the app itself. If you do not agree with them, do not use the app.

2. What GrailFox does

GrailFox photographs a trading card, attempts to identify the exact print and set, and shows an estimated market value for that printing. It is an information tool. It does not buy, sell, grade, authenticate or appraise cards, and it is not a marketplace.

3. Values are estimates

Prices come from third-party market data and change constantly. They are estimates for the printing and condition shown, not offers, valuations or guarantees. Actual sale prices vary by marketplace, grader and timing. You are responsible for any decision you make on the basis of a figure shown in the app.

4. Scans and credits

New installations include three successful scans at no cost. A scan that fails — a network error, an unreadable photograph, a card the app cannot identify — is not counted and is not charged. A single scan credit purchased in the app applies to your next successful scan; it does not retroactively unlock a scan you have already taken. Free scans and Pro allowance are always spent before a purchased credit, so a credit keeps until it is needed.

5. Subscriptions

GrailFox Pro is an auto-renewing yearly subscription bought through the App Store, and includes up to 500 scans per calendar month. Apple sets the price for each country and charges you in your own currency; the amount the App Store shows you before you confirm is the amount you pay, and nothing is added to it. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically, and your Apple ID is charged for the next year within 24 hours before the current one ends, unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

6. Cancellation and refunds

Manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store account settings at any time; cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves the current period running. Because Apple is the seller, refunds — including the withdrawal rights EU law gives consumers buying digital content — are requested from Apple and decided under Apple's policies. We cannot issue them ourselves, though if something looks wrong we will help you work out what happened.

7. Apple

Because GrailFox reaches you through the App Store, Apple requires the following, and it is part of these terms. These terms are concluded between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Your licence covers use of GrailFox on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as the App Store usage rules permit. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation. Claims relating to the app — including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance and consumer protection — are our responsibility, not Apple's, as are third-party claims that the app infringes intellectual property rights. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

8. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to extract the catalog or price data in bulk, automate scanning, resell the output as your own service, or interfere with the app's operation. We may suspend access where these terms are broken.

9. Trade marks

GrailFox is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any trading card publisher, and all card names, set names and marks referred to in the app remain the property of their respective owners. Card names are used only to describe the cards a user is holding.

10. Liability

The app is provided as it is. We are liable without limit for intent, for gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. Otherwise we are liable only for the breach of an obligation these terms stand on, and then only for foreseeable, typical loss — which excludes, in particular, loss from a trade made in reliance on an estimated value. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including your statutory consumer rights.

11. Law, disputes and contact

These terms are governed by German law, without displacing mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG). Questions go to support@grailfox.net.
